Between leading the library knitting club and getting a job at the knit shop, I started to fall in love with the ability to take something out of my head and make it into an actual object. Another great aspect was the community that came with the knitting.
I joined a Harry Potter group online, where we were sorted into Houses and spent each month making projects that were relevant to specific class topics (gloves when we did palmistry in Divination, potholders that a muggle would use for Muggle Studies, etc). There was also a tremendous amount of House pride (and points to be earned for it), so I decided to make a tie (see yesterday's post for my aversion to scarves).
Except that the only House tie pattern available was knit on the bias, and therefore had an asymmetrical point. So I set out to create a more tie shaped one, and ended up with the Hogwarts House Tie. I think this has been my most-purchased design, so apparently other people also wanted a properly tie shaped tie, as well.
Find the pattern here on Ravelry, and enter code write31days to get it for free through the end of the month! Check back tomorrow for the story behind Urban Artemis.
